It’s September but we still have rosebuds. We also have clay soil which roses love – thus still so many buds. Plus mini heatwaves with bouts of rain which has meant happy roses and vases filled with them inside the house.
This week I cut a bud off each climber and shrub still blooming then put them in little bottles.
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,

Most of the buds opened up within a day or two. Only two failed to ever open. 
I noticed today that one single dark red bud has appeared on one rose shrub that I didn’t include in my mix. I will let it open and enjoy the September breeze and sun before cutting it and bringing it inside.
I adore roses, I’d love more in my garden – I’ve a pink climber, pink and red bush ones plus a white patio one. There are some great big red rosehips on a couple of them now which are beautiful too. I like the pink one in the top picture, a gorgeous blush colour.
Oh so lovely, this has been the first year that I’ve really started to love roses to the point of wanting to plant our own.

WE have lots of roses, but they’re actually my in laws. They don’t pick them, but I think the’d have something to say if I took some.
Your roses are gorgeous. I think I’ll try picking a few buds; didn’t realise they would open up fully if placed in water. Love your vase set!
It was an experiment on my part and I’m definitely doing that again. You’re meant to check whether the sepals are open or not but it didn’t seem to matter.
You are the rose whisperer! I had no idea thet liked clay soil, will remember that for if I ever attempt growing my own.

I’m still trying to persuade my husband that we need a climber rose round our front door. He doesn’t seem to realise what we are missing out on!
We have about eight climbers and the scent is divine. Hope you do persuade him 🙂
