The Legs Sculpture

Luce and Theo marching by sculpture  of legs in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons

When I took this photo in 2013 of Luce and Theo walking under the Leg sculpture, little did we know that ‘Larry’s Legs’ was already the focus of a zoning battle.

The 16-foot-high pair of legs by artist Larry Rivers were first placed in 2008 outside of the home of art gallery owners Janet Lehr and Ruth Vered in Sag Harbor.  The town declared the sculpture was violating zoning rules and ordered it to be removed.  Even a documentary was made over the artwork controversy – “Legs: A Big Issue in a Small Town.”

So are these legs still walking in Sag Harbor’s Madison Street?

    1. Thanks! So glad I always have my camera with me as usually there’s a car or two parked in front when I pick the kids up from school.

    1. It’s a sculpture outside local artist’s home. It’s on small side street in our village right near my children’s school so we pass it all the time.
