Good day he crows

a rooster crowsThis is the cock – rooster – at the stables where my daughter rides. Cock a doodle doo crowed the cock (if you’re British and Irish) or the rooster (if you’re North American and Australian).

He’s rather noisy at times. This week he stood on a fence post in front of a door crowing while he basked in the sunlight.

  1. Great shot. I was going to ask how you got the black background, but I see it was in front of a door. Always nice when animals get in the right position for good photo opportuinties

  2. My grandparents had a farm when I was younger & they had 2 huge roosters, they were really loud too. One would chase us around just to be mean, hah. He was bigger than we were.

  4. Oh wow, that’s an amazing shot. Love the colours and the lighting. I had a gorgeous nursery rhyme book when I was little and looking at your photo takes me right back to being little and sitting looking at it’s wonderful pictures … must go dig it out! x

  5. This is one of the best shots I’ve seen today, absolutely brilliant! We have chickens and I’ve taken 100s of photos of them over the years, I’ve never managed to take one as good as this of our cockerels. Fab shot.

  6. He’s very beautiful, great photograph! My Mum has so many animals including chickens. They have a giant Rooster who is very magnificent, he’s called Russell Crow!! 😀
